Activity/Description:

See vancouver from the water, and take a ride on one of the pedestrian ferries.

Useful Information:

Description:

For visitors and locals, taking a ferry across False Creek is a very picturesque and relaxing way to spend a day out in Vancouver. There are many shopping areas, like Granville Island, Yaletown, the shops along Granville Street and Denman Street. Additionally, there are many points of interest along the waters of False Creek that you could spend days visiting, such as Science World, Vanier Park, the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre and the Roundhouse Theatre.

There are two companies that offer pedestrian ferry services back and forth across false creek. Both False Creek Ferries and the The Aquabus offer ferry service to both sides of False Creek. Both companies operate fleets of 12 ferries that zig zag across False Creek and provide an off beat way to get back and forth across the water. Each of the ferries is relatively small, carrying about 12 passengers and they are covered, which is an advantage given the tendency for rain in Vancouver. Once you are on a ferry, the travel time between each stop varies, but is usually not much more than 5 minutes.

The little boats bob between each of their stops and provide a scenic way to view the city. Although the ferries get you across the water fairly quickly, they also seem to slow your day down and provide a relaxing way to enjoy your commute. It is certainly different than crowding on to one of the cities busy busses to get across the water, and costs about the same amount as it would to take a conventional bus. Both companies offer similar pricing plans, and routes.
